Issues Saving in Microsoft Word or Excel

If a user contacts you and says they are having issues saving in Word or Excel, especially if they have already had Office Repair tool has already run, then please run these steps on their account:

First: Have the user reboot their workstation. WAIT FOR THE 2 BEEPS before logging in:

If this does not work, then have the user try the following:

Right Click My Computer and select Explore:

After this, select the C:

Then select “Documents and Settings”:

Then select the username:

Look and see if you see a folder labeled “Local Settings.” If you don’t, then go to Tools:

Once you have selected Tools, Select Folder Options:

Under the tab “View” select “Show hidden files and folders” and select “OK”:

Then select the “Local Settings” folder:

Then see if they have a folder labeled “Temp.”:

If they don’t have “Temp” folder, and instead have a file labeled “temp,” you need to rename it to “test.”

After you do this, create a new folder and name it “Temp.” Have the user save their work there.
As soon as this is done, the user needs to reboot their workstation. WAIT FOR THE 2 BEEPS before they log back on.
